2010 October · SUNYIT Breaks Ground on Technology Complex
Nanotechnology education at SUNYIT began taking a new shape Thursday with the groundbreaking of the Computer Chip Commercialization Center.
The $127.5 million state-of-the-art facility will take over space that is currently a parking lot.
Growth can be seen all over campus, with construction finishing up on a new dorm, field house, and a student center.
Construction on the technology complex makes the Marcy Nanotechnology site more attractive, with the future promise of a skilled workforce and stimulus.
The three story structure will allow cutting edge technology companies to partner with SUNYIT to benefit both students and the local economy. The Center for the Advanced Technology will have laboratory, computing and classroom facilities for students and researchers.
The building itself is going to be a piece of technology with photovoltaic solar panels, energy efficient features and a green roof. Corporate and research partners will also have space in the "Quad C" are also known as the new Computer Chip Commercialization Center.
