2011 October · nfrastructure`s Chairman & CEO Joins Economic Development Panel Discussion at Public Forum
Malta, N.Y. - nfrastructure's Chairman & CEO, Daniel T. Pickett III, joined a panel discussion hosted by The Capital Region Economic Development Council (CREDC) during its public forum held at Empire State College in Saratoga Springs on October 3rd from 6:30-9:00 pm. CREDC is co-chaired by Dr. Shirley Ann Jackson, President of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and Michael J. Castellana, President and CEO of SEFCU.
This was the fourth CREDC public forum where businesses, individuals, organizations, labor and university representatives from the Capital Region are encouraged to attend and share their ideas and recommendations with the CREDC for the regional economic development's long-term, sustainable strategic plan.
"I was honored to be a part of this panel discussion along with esteemed colleagues and thought leaders, Dr. Shirley Ann Jackson and Michael Castellana," said Daniel T. Pickett, nfrastructure chairman and CEO. "It was thought-provoking, and a very important step to help with the sharing of ideas, and to listening to community members' concerns and recommendations with regard to the area's future economic growth."
The forum was hosted by Dr. Hugh Hammett, VP of Enrollment Management, Student Services, and External Affairs, Empire State College, and the discussion was facilitated by Thomas Wood III, Chairman of the Saratoga County Board of Supervisors and a member of the CREDC.
In addition to Pickett, other panel members included Meg Benke, Ph.D., Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, Empire State College; Penny Hill, Associate Dean, HVCC's TEC-SMART; and, Marcia White, President & Executive Director, Saratoga Performing Arts Center.
Key topics included what panelists thought were the most pressing economic development needs of our region; what criteria should be used by the CREDC when considering economic development projects for submission; and what metric is most important to business when measuring growth and sustainability.
