MARCY, N.Y. – nfrastructure is pleased to announce the addition of its initial team of management and professional staff dedicated to supporting the nfrastructure Center of Competency in Information Technologies (NCCIT) at the State University of New York Institute of Technology (SUNYIT) at Utica/Rome.
On Thursday, November 17, 2011, nfrastructure announced plans to establish a Command Center in 2,000 square feet of space it will soon occupy on the SUNYIT campus, in advance of construction of the Computer Chip Commercialization Center (Quad-C).
“When we first advanced the idea of a cross-regional partnership between SUNYIT and the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering at UAlbany, we said good paying jobs would not be far behind. The recent announcement by nfrastructure is great news for the Mohawk Valley,” said Assembly Speaker Silver. “The top notch services and products that nfrastructure provides to nanotechnology companies is critical to our efforts to continue the growth of this highly competitive and cutting edge industry in our state.”
“These three new hires show nfrastructure’s strong commitment to the Mohawk Valley,” said Assembly member Anthony J. Brindisi (D-Utica). “I’ll continue to work with SUNY, state and local leaders to bring more high-tech companies to SUNYIT, and make sure this project is the huge success our region needs.”
These new hires are the first wave of technical staffing and end user services personnel who will collaborate with the New York State Assembly, SUNYIT, and the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering (CNSE) to foster collaboration among students, faculty and industry to spur high-tech economic opportunity in the Mohawk Valley through job creation, workforce training, and an IT-supplier network. Through the program, nfrastructure also plans to integrate students, and eventually graduates, into NCCIT’s day-to-day operations.
“These staff additions are essential to nfrastructure and NCCIT’s future success and commitment to exploring and introducing innovative technological solutions, and to creating strong workforce development programs,” said Daniel T. Pickett, nfrastructure chairman and CEO.
“All of us at SUNYIT are pleased to welcome the new members of the NCCIT team to this rapidly expanding partnership,” said Dr. Bjong Wolf Yeigh, SUNYIT president. “The role that nfrastructure is playing in SUNYIT’s collaboration with CNSE is critical to our future success, and together we will lay the groundwork for an exciting expansion of the regional economy.”
“This is an exciting step forward that illustrates nfrastructure’s commitment to this groundbreaking public-private partnership that is driving nanotechnology-enabled education, innovation, and economic growth in the Utica/Rome area,” said Dr. Alain E. Kaloyeros, CNSE senior vice president and CEO. “Led by the strategic vision and unparalleled support of Assembly Speaker Silver, together with the pioneering leadership and steadfast guidance of Governor Cuomo, the Mohawk Valley is already attracting leading high-tech partners, and we look forward to building on this opportunity in the future.”

Brown’s responsibilities include all operations on-site at SUNYIT as it pertains to NCCIT. Brown is a graduate of Hudson Valley Community College (HVCC) with an associate’s degree in automotive/mechanical engineering, and previously worked at Alcatel-Lucent as Solution Architect. He holds several industry certifications.
